History

We have environmentalist, river sojourner, singer/musician John Hazard of upstate New York to thank for bringing us the idea to celebrate our river.  John stopped by the Dietrich Theater 6 years ago to tell of his plan to sojourn the Susquehanna River from New York State, stopping along the way to perform his music.  This was the birth of the idea to have a concert at Tunkhannock’s Riverside Park, to have music bring people to the River, where they can learn about efforts to keep our river healthy and thriving.  2010 will be our 6th Celebrate Our River Day, featuring music and activities to help us be better stewards of our environment and activities that promote recreation on the river.
