Celebrate Our River Day

Riverside Park, Tunkhannock, PA

1pm to 7pm

Join us as we celebrate and promote the value of one of our greatest resources, the Susquehanna River.  Included in the day’s festivities will be live music, environmental activities for children and adults, a nature walk, a river float, food and more.  Live music will be provided by Sadie Green Sales Jugband, the bluegrass group Coal Town Rounders, and Hickory Project.

We have environmentalist, river sojourner, singer/musician John Hazard of upstate New York to thank for bringing us the idea to celebrate our river.  John stopped by the Dietrich Theater 10 years ago to tell of his plan to sojourn the Susquehanna River from New York State, stopping along the way to perform his music.  This was the birth of the idea to have a concert at Tunkhannock’s Riverside Park, to have music bring people to the River, where they can learn about efforts to keep our river healthy and thriving.  July 19, 2014 will be our 10th Day at the River, featuring music and activities to help us be better stewards of our environment.
